What We Do

A complete picture of what we offer every child

Our Programs

At St. Athanasius, we believe that a full education is one that develops a child in every dimension: academically, creatively, physically, spiritually, and socially. The programs below reflect that belief. None of them is optional. All of them matter.

Academics

Our academic program follows the Uganda National Curriculum and is delivered by qualified, dedicated teachers who are committed to helping every child succeed. Through engaging lessons, practical activities, group learning, and individual support, students develop strong foundations in all core subjects. Regular assessment helps us monitor progress and provide guidance where needed. With a focus on literacy, numeracy, critical thinking, and personal growth, we nurture confident learners who are prepared for future success.

Music, Dance, and Drama

Performing arts are a vibrant part of life at St. Athanasius. Through music, dance, drama, and cultural performances, children discover their talents and express themselves creatively. Participation in the arts builds confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and self-discipline while encouraging imagination and joy. Regular performances give students opportunities to shine before their peers, families, and community. These experiences help children grow in confidence and develop skills that support success in many areas of life.

Sports and Physical Education

Physical activity plays an important role in every child’s development. Our sports program includes football, netball, athletics, and a variety of age-appropriate activities designed to promote health and fitness. Through participation, students learn teamwork, resilience, discipline, and respect while building confidence and enjoying healthy competition. We encourage effort, improvement, and sportsmanship at every level. These experiences help children develop positive habits and valuable life skills that extend far beyond the playing field.

Creative Arts

Creative arts provide children with opportunities to explore ideas, develop imagination, and express themselves in meaningful ways. Through drawing, painting, craft, design, and hands-on projects, students build creativity, patience, and problem-solving skills. Artistic activities encourage experimentation, independent thinking, and attention to detail while helping children gain confidence in their abilities. By creating and sharing their work, students learn to appreciate beauty, embrace new challenges, and take pride in their achievements.

Leadership Development

We believe every child has the potential to become a positive and responsible leader. Through leadership roles, group projects, community service, and everyday responsibilities, students learn decision-making, accountability, teamwork, and integrity. Our approach focuses on developing character as well as confidence, encouraging children to lead by example and serve others with purpose. By nurturing these qualities from an early age, we prepare young people to make meaningful contributions within their communities and beyond.

Boarding Program

Our boarding program provides a safe, structured, and supportive environment where children can thrive academically, socially, and personally. Under the care of trained matrons and staff, boarders benefit from regular routines, supervised study sessions, nutritious meals, and comfortable accommodation. Boarding encourages independence, responsibility, and strong friendships while offering the stability many children need to flourish. The experience helps students develop confidence, resilience, and valuable life skills that remain with them for years.

Spiritual Development

Through daily devotions, chapel services, religious instruction, and positive role models, students are encouraged to develop strong values and a deeper understanding of faith. We create an environment where children can reflect, ask questions, and grow spiritually with confidence. By nurturing compassion, integrity, responsibility, and respect for others, we help students build character and a sense of purpose for life.

Outdoor Activities

Outdoor learning gives children valuable opportunities to explore, discover, and connect with the world around them. Through nature walks, environmental projects, team challenges, and outdoor educational activities, students develop curiosity, resilience, and problem solving skills. These experiences encourage creativity, teamwork, and a greater appreciation for nature while supporting physical wellbeing.
